My Career

I am currently serving the students of Hope Academy High School as the 10th grade English teacher...(and the 9th grade one period of the day)...I enjoy my work here at the school--and particularly adore the city culture of the students that I work with...though they can be difficult at times--I think they are quite appreciative of my desire to show them love--and give them a hope for the future...much more so than the students I dealt with during my student teaching experience!

Education and Work Experience

After graduating from Edgewood Senior High School in May of 2000, I decided to attend Malone College to pursue a degree in Youth Ministry.  While at Malone I worked in the Student Development office, baby-sat frequently, was a vocalist for the Praise and Worship team, served as Freshmen class treasurer, was a member of the student senate, and tutored Title 1 Reading students on a regular basis.  Additionally--I played for the Varsity golf team and worked as a member of the hall council while playing intra-mural basketball.  I had the time of my life with my friends at Malone --but following the summer of my freshmen year--I felt a call from Christ to serve Him in a broader area--at the Kent State University Campus...I wanted to reach the world--rather than live in a "bubble."

(During that summer I also experienced "camp" for the first time--working at Makemie Woods in Williamsburg, VA--hands down the place where my heart first began to know what it truly meant love God with all my heart, mind, and soul).

Upon reaching Kent State--I was blessed to find my nitch as an RA---having 150 college kids to take care of really kept me busy!--My time at KSU was well spent and full of growth--I spent my final summer of college living in the Kairos House--a Christian community house in the KSU area--it was an amazing experience!  One of the greatest life-changing experiences I had in college was when attending the Pittsburgh Jubille conference in the winter of 2004.  At this conference I began to feel and understand God's plan for my life even more--a life of reaching out to the world--rather than hiding behind the church.

In May of 2004 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from KSU--and receive my BS in Integrated Language Arts Education--I received quadruple certification in teaching Literature, Theater, Communications, and Journalis--at it is a career that I love dearly---I cannot express my blessings in having made it to this point--and I look forward to a rewarding number of years in the dynamic field of Education.

Currently seeking to obtain a Master's in Educational Law and Administration
